Informacje ogólne

Patres to aplikacja do czytania pism Ojców Kościoła i klasyki chrześcijańskiej.

Dane zapisywane w telefonie

Żeby wygodnie wracać do lektury, aplikacja zapisuje na Twoim urządzeniu:

Dane te leżą w lokalnej bazie danych aplikacji i w jej ustawieniach. Nie trafiają do nas ani do nikogo innego.

Raporty o awariach

Kopią zarządzasz Ty i Google; my nie mamy do niej dostępu.

Usuwanie danych

Wszystkie dane możesz w każdej chwili usunąć:

  1. Wyczyszczenie danych aplikacji: Ustawienia telefonu → Aplikacje → Patres → Pamięć → Wyczyść dane. Usuwa zakładki, zakreślenia, postępy i ustawienia.

Raporty o awariach trafiają do Firebase połączeniem szyfrowanym (HTTPS).

Uprawnienia

Privacy policy (English)

Patres is an app for reading the Church Fathers and Christian classics. It works offline: the texts, search, bookmarks, highlights and reading plans are on your phone. The app has no accounts or login and asks for no personal data. From version 1.0.1 it sends crash reports, described below, to Google's Firebase Crashlytics service, so that we can fix bugs. We run no servers of our own.

Data stored on your phone

So that you can return to your reading, the app stores on your device:

  • Settings: theme, language, typeface and text size.
  • Reading places: the texts you read last and your place in each chapter.
  • Bookmarks and highlights: what you mark in the texts.
  • Reading plans: the plans you started and the days you have read.
  • Search index: built from the texts in the app, with no data about you.

This data stays in the app's local database and settings. It never reaches us or anyone else.

Crash reports

When the app crashes or meets an error it did not handle, it sends a report to Firebase Crashlytics: where in the code the error happened (the stack trace), the state of the app and the phone at that moment, such as free memory or screen orientation, the phone model, the system and app versions, and a random identifier of the app's installation, which tells us how many users an error affects. The app adds no data of its own to the reports: no bookmarks, notes or search words.

Reports serve only to find and fix bugs. They are sent when the phone is online, usually the next time the app starts. Crashlytics keeps them for 90 days.

Google processes this data under Privacy and Security in Firebase and the Google Privacy Policy.

What we do not collect

  • Personal data (name, email address, phone number). The app has no accounts and no login.
  • Location, contacts, photos or files.
  • Advertising identifiers. The app has no ads.
  • Usage statistics. The app contains no analytics, so we do not know what you read or for how long.

Sharing

We do not sell data or pass it to anyone but Google, which provides the Firebase Crashlytics service. Only the app's author looks at the crash reports, in the Firebase console. Your bookmarks, highlights and reading progress never leave your device.

Network

The fonts and all the texts are built into the app, so reading works offline. Only Firebase Crashlytics uses the network, to send crash reports.

The links in the About section (the translations' license and this policy) open in your browser, which follows its own privacy rules.

Backup

If backup is turned on on your phone, Android may include the app's data (settings, reading places, bookmarks, highlights and plans) in the backup to your Google account and restore it on a new phone. You and Google manage that backup; we have no access to it.

Deleting your data

You can delete all of it at any time:

  1. Clear the app's data: phone Settings → Apps → Patres → Storage → Clear data. This removes bookmarks, highlights, progress and settings.
  2. Uninstall the app: this removes everything the app stored on the phone.

The crash reports in Firebase contain no name or email address, so we cannot tell which of them come from you. Google deletes them after 90 days.

Security

The app sandbox of Android and iOS protects the app's data on the phone: other apps cannot read it. Crash reports travel to Firebase over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).

Permissions

On iPhone the app asks for no permissions. On Android it has those the crash reports need:

  • Internet (INTERNET) and network state (ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): to send crash reports. The audio player library adds the network state permission too.

The app asks for no other permissions.

Children

The app asks no one, children included, for personal data. The crash reports do not tell who uses the app.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new update date.
